Andrew Mattinson Builders was established in 1980 and we pride ourselves on being a family run, highly experienced and professional company. Initially founded by Andrew & Janet Mattinson, the company has continued to grow and evolve, to become what it is today. In later years, their son-in-law Mark became the firms joiner & a partner within the business with their daughter and Marks wife, Charlotte becoming the final partner in 2015. The business is now run by Mark and Charlotte, with Andrew and Janet enjoying their full retirement.

The company, operating from Sedbergh, Cumbria, has always maintained a strong local presence,  never having to travel far from its local roots, allowing us to place the customer at the heart of everything we do. As a company we have worked hard to build up an extremely loyal customer base resulting in the impeccable reputation that we have today. A great deal of our work comes from the word-of-mouth recommendations of our long-standing customer base, which is the biggest compliment in itself!

The company has an incredibly diverse & broad portfolio of previously undertaken projects.

Specialising in barn conversions and new build dwellings, we have built up an excellent reputation for our standard of work throughout on these. We have experience in taking on large and complex challenges and designs, including guest house / boutique hotel conversions and housing developments. As well as our many speculative projects, we are regularly involved in contract work with clients on their own projects.

We have also worked on listed buildings, and are familiar with the unique complexity involved within the regulations of these types of projects. Our vast and varied experience has enabled us to be extremely flexible in adapting to the changes in building styles over the years, and we have easily adapted to new modern ways of working to enhance and maximise a buildings’ or projects potential within the ever-changing environment.

Over recent years, we have completed a number of modern and futuristic new builds, which are mainly timber structures, designed to be in keeping with their immediate environment, whilst also being exceptionally economical on future cost and maintenance.

We work closely with all other parties involved in the building industry such as architects, interior designers, building control, structural engineers & subcontractors, ensuring we offer a first class service throughout every stage of work undertaken as well as compliance with building regulations. We have a small group of long-standing, trusted sub-contractors who also strive to achieve the very high standards continually demonstrated within our own work.
